How do I change a share of Inheritance?
There are some circumstances where those who inherit would like to change their share of the estate, for example:-
to include someone who might have been left out of the Will (or by the inheritance law) eg. a step child
to by-pass one generation and leave directly to grandchildren instead
to fix any uncertainty in the Will
as a way to reduce either the Inheritance or Capital Gains Tax that might be payable
to create a Trust and move the money and property into it
A Variation is done by everyone who might be impacted by a change signing a document to agree on matters. It can be done before or after Confirmation but must be completed within 2 years of the date of death.
